Ovais Mangalwala is an award winning documentary maker, TV presenter, producer, events host and theatre actor.

He joined HUM NEWS in 2017 as part of their initial team which helped launch the channel and currently hosts the breakfast show SUBAH SAY AGAY for HUM NEWS, which airs Monday to Friday.

As a media professional, he has previously worked for Express News as Senior Producer / Presenter, where he produced and presented several shows and documentaries. He was also the Producer for campaigns on education reforms by Department for International Development UK and police reforms by National Police Foundation Pakistan. His religious satire series KAHA SUNA MAAF and social issues series KARACHI MERA HAI were quite popular.

At Express, he also won the Excellence in Journalism Award by IBA-Centre for Excellence in Journalism in the Health Journalism category for his documentary CHEENI KUM related to diabetes.

While working at Express, Ovais received the Babar Ali scholarship twice to present his research papers on new media and journalism at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.

Ovais was also a part of the initial team of DAWN NEWS, which started as the first English language news channel in Pakistan. He was part of the news and current affairs departments where he produced news, documentaries and also had a chance to present news. He was also a part of the transition of DAWN NEWS from English to Urdu language channel.

While at DAWN, he was invited by Leiden University, Netherlands to represent Pakistan at the Knowledge Democracy conference.

He is also an experienced radio host and has hosted the morning show for FM 99, Karachi, Pakistan.

With Masters degrees in Computer Science and Business Administration, he has a diverse background of working in the Information Technology, Banking, Education and media industry.

Ovais has also studied theatre arts formally at the National Academy of Performing Arts, Karachi and has performed in several theatre plays in Pakistan and abroad.

Ovais has also taught media studies at several top media studies universities in Karachi.
